This month's writing prompt will focus on creating a rich setting. Your setting is a very important part of a novel. It gives your novel a place, time, mood & context. The setting is more than just a physical location and buildings. Your setting includes everything that makes that place what it is: the history, customs, people, jobs, climate, time of year, geography, current events, etc.

The more vivid your setting, the easier it is for your reader to imagine that place in their mind. The setting also shapes your novel's characters & plot.

This month, we have 2 writing exercises to help you look at setting from two points of view.
Using the photo above as inspiration for your setting:
Write 1-3 pages describing the setting from the point of view of a someon who is visiting the island for the first time. Include three things they love about the island and three things they hate.
Write 1-3 pages describing the setting from the point of view of someone who lives on the island. Include three things they love about the island and three things they hate.
